Happy Thanksgiving!

Wild Turkey (Meleagris gallopavo) Hen with Poults photo by Larry Jordan

Wild Turkey (Meleagris gallopavo) hen protecting her poults in my yard a couple of years ago. Relax mama, no danger of getting shot on my property!

So many things to be thankful for. Family, friends and the amazing wild creatures we enjoy on this planet.

Let’s all strive to embrace and save the wilderness we still have on Earth. Don’t allow politicians to threaten wild places! Support organizations like the Nature Conservancy!

Happy Thanksgiving day to you Larry and your family.
Your words are so right about things worth thanking and everybody has at least one same thing with all other people around the world – a nature.
We both are biologists, my husband and I and he has been last 35 years trying to save Saimaa Ringed seal. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saimaa_ringed_seal
You do a good work !
    Regards
    Leena

Larry, I hope you and your family are enjoying a very Happy Thanksgiving. I used to have wild turkeys in my yard too when I lived back east. They made a mess of my garden with all their scratching but they were as safe in my yard as they are in yours.

Beautiful healthy birds, Larry! Not like those poor monstrosities they raise in turkey farms.

Turkeys in the yard is one of the things I miss terribly from home (Bay Area). Can’t wait to be back. But in the interim, it’s so lovely to peruse your photos here and feel connected to Northern California by way of your experience. Wonderful blog!
