Birds And Wind Turbines – Is There A Solution?

As conservationists we want clean renewable power like wind power but we also want to protect our raptors and other wild birds.

Many conservation groups, including the Audubon Society, are helping to make wind farms safe for birds so that we can take advantage of the wind power without harming birds.  As you can see from this video, raptors are one of the largest group of birds that are in danger.  Wind farm design has come a long way recently and with constant vigilance we can make this work to the advantage of everyone.

We have gotten some support by the California Energy Commission who approved the California Guidelines for Reducing Impacts to Birds and Bats from Wind Energy Development

Solution is new vertical axis wind turbine technology like this:

    I like this technology.

Strange still many of the leading enviromental wacko groups support wind turbines despite the fact wind turbines harm birds

@Flu-Bird maybe you didn’t read my post but the idea is to have the best of both worlds. Make the wind farms safer for birds so that we can take advantage of wind energy

This new millennium as seen many great changes and perhaps the most notable has been the shift in consciousness amongst the masses toward “sustainable living”. A major factor in sustainable living is renewable energy. Yes, the old-fashioned windmill is back and with a bang. Except this time instead of just mechanical energy, that mechanical energy is turned into electricity by the vertical wind turbine.
